Boards and Committees
Drug Utilization Review (DUR) Board
The purpose of the Indiana Medicaid DUR
Board is to serve in an advisory capacity to Indiana Medicaid
with regard to the dispensing of drugs by Indiana Medicaid enrolled
providers and the use of drugs by Indiana Medicaid members.
The Board is composed of representatives of the pharmacy, medical,
and scientific communities and has a responsibility to establish
criteria for both retrospective review and prospective surveillance
of drug dispensing for and use by Indiana Medicaid members. Through
the expert opinion of the Board members, aided when appropriate by
consultants, the Board will provide the Medicaid Agency with advice
on matters of drug usage so as to allow for the appropriate and
cost effective delivery of medical and pharmaceutical care.
Indiana Medicaid Therapeutics Committee
Senate Bill 228 establishes a Therapeutics
subcommittee (T Committee) of the DUR Board charged with
developing a Preferred Drug List effective September 2002.
Mental Health Quality Advisory Committee (MHQAC)
The MHQAC
was implemented to develop guidelines and programs that would allow
open and appropriate access to mental health medications. The MHQAC
provides educational materials to prescribers and pharmacy
providers concerning the appropriate use of mental health
medications.
