With the implementation of the new HIPAA 5010 ASC X12 version, the transaction requirement for a primary diagnosis code was changed from situational to required for 837 claims transactions. Effective April 1, 2012, this billing requirement will also apply to both Indiana Health Coverage Programs (IHCP) paper and Web interChange claim submissions. - Indiana Medicaid Migration to ICD-10 Remains Unaltered

Providers submitting electronic batch claims are expected to be compliant with HIPAA 5010 January 1, 2012. However, the Indiana Health Coverage Programs (IHCP) will accept both versions 4010A1 and 5010 starting January 1, 2012, for a period of time to be determined by the IHCP. Email notice of providers’ anticipated noncompliance with the January 1 start date must be received by **DECEMBER 27, 2011.** - NCPDP D.0 Penalties Temporarily Delayed for Noncompliant Providers

Providers submitting pharmacy claims are expected to be compliant with NCPDP D.0 January 1, 2012. However, the IHCP will accept both versions D.0 and 5.1, and batch 1.1 and 1.2 claims starting January 1, 2012, for a period of time to be determined by the IHCP. Email notice of providers' anticipated noncompliance with the January 1 start date must be received by December 21, 2011.
