IHCP clarifies NEMT assignment information on Portal eligibility panels

The Indiana Health Coverage Programs (IHCP) announced in Banner Page BR201824 that the eligibility panels in the Provider Healthcare Portal (Portal) would indicate if a fee-for-service (FFS) member's nonemergency medical transportation (NEMT) benefits are to be managed through Southeastrans (SET). Beginning June 1, 2018, when verifying member eligibility, providers saw "Southeastrans" displayed under the Managed Care Assignment Details panel of the Portal if this assignment applied to that member.

It is critical providers understand that this managed care assignment applies to NEMT services ONLY. The member continues to receive all other services through the FFS delivery system based on the member's assigned benefit plan that also displays in the eligibility panels.

Portal upgrades have been made to update the terminology under the Managed Care Assignment Details to display "Fee for Service + NEMT." This enhancement is intended to more clearly reflect the member's FFS status.
