IHCP temporarily delays implementation of new Addiction Services/OTP provider type and specialty

In Indiana Health Coverage Programs (IHCP) Bulletin BT201744, the IHCP announced that a new provider type of Addiction Services with a specialty of Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) would be established effective August 1, 2017. The same publication further outlined details of IHCP's reimbursement policy for OTP services rendered by Addiction Services/OTP providers. IHCP has decided to adjust the reimbursement structure for OTP services and is temporarily delaying implementation of this new provider type and specialty until September 1, 2017.

The delay in creating the new provider type will not affect those OTPs currently enrolled with IHCP. These providers should continue to bill for services, as appropriate, under their current enrollment status. As a reminder, providers enrolled under the ordering, prescribing, or referring (OPR) provider type, do not bill IHCP for services they render to IHCP members.

Information regarding enrollment and the revised reimbursement policy for Addiction Services/OTP providers will be communicated in a future IHCP Bulletin ahead of the new September 1, 2017 effective date.
